FAQ

What are vertical balers?

Vertical balers are machines that press materials such as cardboard, film, or PET bottles into compact bales. Unlike horizontal balers, vertical balers compact the material into a bale from the top down.

How do vertical balers work?

The material to be pressed is filled into the pressing chamber by hand or manually or automatically via a feed unit. In the bale chamber, the recyclable material is compressed into compact bales. When sufficient material has been compacted, the formed bale is tied with wire or tape and ejected so that it is ready for removal.

What are the advantages of vertical balers?

Vertical balers offer several advantages, including:

Space saving: the presses significantly reduce the volume of the recyclable material, resulting in more efficient use of the available space

Easy operation: Vertical balers are usually easy to operate and can be used by any employee after a short instruction.

Time saving: Compressing the material into bales makes handling and disposal much easier. In addition, the compact machines can be optimally integrated into the processes, which generates a path and thus time saving.

Optimized disposal management: The compact bales make it easier to dispose of recyclables, as they take up less space for storage and maximize transport utilization.

What materials can be compacted with vertical balers?

Separating waste consistently means acting economically

Vertical balers can process a wide range of materials. These include, for example, cardboard packaging, films, PET bottles, cans or foam. Depending on the recyclable material and the necessary throughput rate, there is a suitable press from Strautmann Umwelttechnik.

Are there different sizes of vertical balers?

The machines are available in different sizes to meet individual customer requirements. The required size of the baler depends, among other things, on the type of material, the amount of material and the initial size of the recyclables.

Are vertical balers safe to operate?

Vertical balers are safe to operate due to the closed system. The machines should always be operated by trained personnel, and it is also important that the presses are regularly checked by trained service technicians.

What does Plug & Play mean?

Plug & Play describes the feature of a machine that does not require extensive on-site installation. It is sufficient to connect the press to the power supply by plugging it into a socket. This means that the machine is immediately ready for operation without the need for additional installation work.

What is the advantage of an automatic baler?

The advantage of a fully automatic baler is the automatic filling of the baler as well as the automatic tying of the bales. This eliminates the need for manual labor by employees because the entire process is automated. This fully automatic operation means that the baler can even work without an operator being present, which both increases efficiency and significantly reduces the amount of work required.

What is special about a semi-automatic baler?

A semi-automatic baler is characterized by automatic filling of the baling chamber, which results in significant time savings for operators compared to a vertical baler. At the same time, its design is more compact than fully automatic balers.

What is the difference between baling and briquetting presses?

The difference between baling and briquetting presses lies in the shape of the resulting products as well as in various functional aspects:

Briquetting presses compress the material into briquettes instead of bales. Briquettes are significantly smaller compared to bales. In addition, they are more compacted. Because of this compaction, no additional setting is required as with bales to hold their shape.

Another difference is in operation: briquetting presses can operate 24/7, without the constant presence of an operator.

Briquettes can be transported over longer distances by means of chutes due to their more compact shape and greater compaction.
